Senator Aliyu Wamakko, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, has launched a large-scale distribution initiative to provide relief and support for the people of his district.
This initiative includes the distribution of 1,000 motorcycles, several sewing machines, water pumping machines for irrigation farmersand 10,000 50kg bags of rice to households.
The first phase of this initiative targeted beneficiaries from the Silame, Binji, Gudu, and Tangaza local government areas, with Tangaza serving as the programme’s launch centre.
The breakdown shows that the beneficiaries include ward chairmen, women’s leaders, social media coordinators, and traditional leaders.
It also featured the distribution of sewing machines to women to promote self-reliance and water pumping machines to farmers to boost dry-season farming and enhance food security in the area.
Speaking on behalf of the senator, Alhaji Nasiru Italy, an APC youth leader in the state, emphasised that Senator Wamakko’s leadership style is inclusive and extends beyond the Sokoto North senatorial district.
Also speaking, the deputy speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Honourable Kabiru Ibrahim Kware, while flagging off the distribution of the motorcycle, praised Senator Wamakko as a father and a respected leader among politicians across the state, regardless of party affiliations.
He noted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has overshadowed the opposition parties in Sokoto, largely due to the grassroots-driven initiatives championed by Wamakko and the APC-led administration.
The permanent secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Alhaji Almustafa Abubakar Alkali, reaffirmed Senator Wamakko’s commitment to keeping his promises and fulfilling his political responsibilities with integrity.
In their remarks, Tangaza local government chairman, Isah Salihu Bashir, State Assembly member Alhaji Aliyu Usman Lumu, Special Adviser on RUWASSA, Abubakar Chika Dantama, and commissioner for environment, Alhaji Nura Shehu Tangaza, thanked Senator Wamakko for sustaining what they termed a tradition of empowerment.
The exercise continues at the remaining four local government areas of the zone, comprising the Kware, Wamakko, Sokoto North, and Sokoto South local governments.
