As part of the preparations for the 2027 general election, Senator Babangida Hussain, representing Jigawa Northwest, has distributed 120 motorcycles to All Progressives Congress (APC) ward chairmen in his constituency.
The provision of the motorcycles is aimed at empowering the chairmen to move around their wards to promote the APC and listen to people’s demands for appropriate government intervention.
At the flag-off of the exercise in Kazaure local government area, Governor Umar Namadi, commended the senator for supporting the party chairmen with mobility.
Namadi said the provision of the motorcycles was in tandem with his government’s policy of supporting party leaders, elected officials, and other public service functionaries to enable them to keep close contact with their people.
“Recently we procured 278 motorcycles and distributed them to all elected ward councillors to enable them to continue going around to collect their people’s demands and channel them for inclusion in the state and local government budgets,” he said.
He then charged the beneficiaries to use the motorcycles to the fullest extent possible to promote the APC’s interests and champion the needs and demands of their constituencies.
Speaking at the occasion, Senator Babangida Hussain said the provision of the motorcycles was part of his commitment to strengthen the APC’s leadership and promote the party’s interests.
“I am an APC member, and our leaders at all levels deserve better working conditions to enable them to continue their good work. I promise to continue contributing my own quota to the development of the party, my constituency, and Jigawa State at large.
“In the last two years, I facilitated the construction of hundreds of classroom blocks, provided medical equipment and drugs, distributed fertiliser and other farm inputs and implements, trained women and youth in various skills for empowerment and poverty eradication.”
“I also secured employment in many federal ministries and parastatals for youth in my constituency, including in the military and paramilitary, among several other interventions to complement the efforts of the governor, Malam Umar Namadi and achieve the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in making life better for all Jigawa citizens and Nigerians. Senator Babangida stated.
