The passenger at the centre of the incident involving Ibom Air, Ms Comfort Emmanson, failed to attend the meeting with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Wednesday.
The meeting, part of the ongoing investigation into the August 10, 2025, incident on board the Ibom Air from Uyo-Lagos flight, was held at the NCAA headquarters in Abuja.
Staff of the Aviation Security (AVSEC), the Ibom Air cabin crew on duty that day and some other relevant stakeholders were at the meeting, but Ms Emmanson was conspicuously missing.
LEADERSHIP findings showed that Emmanson missed the meeting because she was unprepared for the flight due to the earlier airport drama.
It was also discovered that the NCAA has arranged for her to meet in Lagos to forestall any drama that could happen at the airport for now.
According to the source, who spoke anonymously, “The meeting was held, and it was basically to hear their side of what actually happened. However, Ms Emmanson did not come, possibly because of the flight ban issues and airport drama. The interaction with her would be in Lagos. It’s part of a holistic investigation.”
Recall that the NCAA director of public affairs and consumer protection, Michael Achimugu, revealed on Tuesday that the Authority had spoken with Emmanson and invited her, the cabin crew, and all those involved in the incident for further investigation.
Achimugu said that the NCAA’s further investigation of the incident would shed more light on the incident that gained traction on social media recently, leading to Emmanson being sent to prison and her subsequent release by the court.
