Following the recent posting and appointments by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army (NA), and Sector 1 Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase, has assumed command as the 44th GOC of the Division.

Major General Wase took over on Wednesday during a colourful handing and taking-over ceremony between him and his predecessor, Major General Mayirenso Saraso, at the Headquarters 1 Division, Kaduna.

During his remarks while handing over, the outgoing GOC, General Saraso, expressed gratitude to God Almighty and the COAS for the privilege to serve in the Division as the 43rd GOC.

He further appreciated officers and soldiers of the Division for their support during his tenure, while urging them to accord same, and even more support, to his successor for the overall benefit of the Nigerian Army and the entire country.

The handing and taking-over ceremony featured signing of handing and taking-over notes between the outgoing and incoming GOCs, respectively, decoration of the new GOC with 1 Division insignia and farewell address to troops by the outgoing GOC.
