7 Killed In Yobe-Maiduguri Highway Accident

Seven persons have been confirmed dead in a road crash on the Damaturu-Maiduguri Highway in Yobe State; others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Credible information confirmed to LEADERSHIP that the incident left several other passengers with varying degrees of injuries.

The incident involved a Toyota Sienna bus and a Toyota Corolla. Eyewitnesses attributed the crash to both vehicles’ overspending.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the crash involved heading towards Maiduguri, when the vehicle lost control and somersaulted along the highway.

One of the residents, who rushed to the scene, helped evacuate victims to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel confirmed seven dead on arrival and many injuries.

Leadership reports that a frontline emergency responder with the Yobe Emergency Medical Ambulance Service (YEMABUS) said the victims were immediately evacuated.

Speaking to Leadership, the information office of YEMABUS, Mallam Ibrahim Waziri, said that seven people lost their lives, five adults and three children and others were injured.
