Yobe Hisbah Destroys Alcoholic Drinks, As Monarch Lauds Commission

LEADERSHIP Friday gathered that, the state hisbah commission on August 19, 2025, carried out the destruction and burning of a large quantity of confiscated alcoholic drinks in Garin Alkali, Bursari local government area.

The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has destroyed a large quantity of confiscated alcoholic drinks and arraigned suspected prostitutes and alcohol offenders in court following a major raid in the state.

The operation was carried out in Garin Alkali town, Walawa community, in Gashua local government area of Yobe State.

Our correspondent who monitored the event report that, the chairman of the Commission, Dr. Yagida Abubakar, described alcohol consumption and prostitution as heinous acts prohibited in Islam.

According to him this is, “ In continuation of its mandate to enforce the sanctity of Sharia and the laws of Yobe State.”

Also, speaking, the emir of Bade Alhaji Abubakar Umar Suleiman, commended the commission for its wonderful job in the state.

He added that, “ I want to use this opportunity to express my appreciation for the continued support and maximum cooperation of the commission, this is our state we must join hand and work together for the interest of our state, nation at large.”
