Wife of the Senate president, Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, has begun a voter enrolment campaign with an appeal to the electorate to participate in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), describing it as the major franchise to make the right choices.
Addressing a forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders, stakeholders and youths of Etim Ekpo local government area in Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, the Senate president’s wife indulged them, especially those not captured, to take advantage of the ongoing exercise.
The resident electoral commissioner (REC) in the state, Mr Obo Effanga, had said the commission had put every machinery in place for a hitch- free physical exercise slated to begin on Monday, August 25, across the 31 LGAs.
Armed with her unity slogan; “Together, We Rise Stronger”, Mrs. Akpabio, who acknowledged the strength of the APC in Etim Ekpo, under the polical leadership of the Pro- chancellor and chairman of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) Governing Council, DIG Udom Ekpoudom (rtd) appreciated party loyalists, urging them to cash in, so as to, again, deliver President Tinubu, her husband and Governor Umo Eno
She used the forum to thank the voters and the people of Etim Ekpo for their overwhelming support and the votes they gave to her husband in the last general election despite all odds.
As the next election beckons, the woman fondly called, “Eti Eka” (Good mother), explained that she was in Etim Ekpo LGA “for two-point agenda – CVR sensitisation and revalidation of both new and old APC members.”
She, therefore, urged that “all who turned 18 years and above, but not yet registered should take the advantage of the ongoing INEC voters registration exercise and get yourselves registered.”
“For you to vote for the President, Bola Tinubu, your son, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and our governor, Pastor Umo Eno, you must register to have your voters’ cards because every vote must count.
“All old and new APC members are advised to utilize this window of opportunity that is open, to go and register and revalidate your memberships in the party,” she stressed.
Six of the stakeholders in their separate speeches commended the Senate President for the effective representation given to the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District (Akwa Ibom North-West), pledging to return the gesture in 2027.
“To whom much is given, much is expected. In Etim Ekpo LGA, no vote will miss, all our votes shall go to our President and our governor, in 2027 general elections,” they echoed.
The chairman of the Council, Hon. Gideon Uwa, appealed to the elders to “continue in the unity that Etim Ekpo is known for,” and vowed to work with the leadership of the party for greater success in the LGA.
The former council chairman, and APC chieftain, Atuekong Chris Okorie, just named into the Board of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), thanked the chairman, for the success recorded in hosting the event.
He use the opportunity to inform the elders of his appointment, and applauded President Tinubu and Senator Akpabio, for the kind gesture.
