Troops under the command of Major Chukuma yesterday killed two members of the Lakurawa terrorist group in Mano community of Tangaza local government area of Sokoto State. Sources close to the local government area said the incident occurred at the Mano market where the bandits often visited to buy foodstuff and other commodities.

According to an eyewitness, the operatives succeeded in killing the bandits after an exchange of gunfire.

Troops in Tangaza, Gudu, Binji, and Silame local government areas also recovered three sophisticated weapons and five motorcycles from the terrorists.

Sources said the bandits retreated after intense firepower from the military, fleeing while the operatives pursued them towards their enclaves in the Tangaza forest.

Communities in Tangaza, Gudu, and Argungu in Sokoto and Kebbi states have been experiencing constant attacks by the Lakurawa due to their shared borders with Niger Republic.
