Kano state Governor Alhaji Abba Yusuf has inaugurated the state taskforce committee on voter registration, urging them to ensure that the number of voters registered in the state reaches 10 million at the end of the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise.
The governor who spoke through the secretary to the state government, Farouk Umar, gave the order while inuagurating the 36-member committee to be chaired by the commissioner for information and home affairs, comrade Abdullahi Waiya.
He urged the committee to mobilise the people and ensure they get their voter’s cards, highlighting that the card is a veritable instrument for citizens to exercise their civic duties and elect who governs them.
He noted that the state has about five million voters, and the committee is expected to make massive mobilisation to hit 10 million by the end of the exercise.
While reiterating government commitment to support the process, Gov. Yusuf also urged them to work in fairness, ensuring no one is denied, irrespective of background or religion.
