The management of Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Bauchi, has alerted the public over activities by impostors who are circulating fake admission letters in the name of the institution.

In a statement issued by the university’s public relations officer, Mr. Auwal Hassan, the management said some fraudsters had been distributing a forged “Provisional Letter of Admission into Bauchi State University, Gadau (BASUG) for the 2025/2026 Session” and deliberately linking it to SAZU to mislead unsuspecting applicants.

Hassan stressed that Sa’adu Zungur University is a separate institution and should not be confused with Bauchi State University, Gadau (BASUG), and according to him, fraudsters are exploiting the similarity in names to deceive candidates and extort money from them.

He clarified that admission into SAZU is conducted strictly through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) and the university’s official portal.

“The university has not released any admission letters for the 2025/2026 academic session outside these official channels.  Any request for payment of fees, including so-called ‘acceptance fees,’ to unauthorised persons or accounts is fraudulent and should be disregarded,” the statement read.

The management advised prospective students, parents, and guardians to verify all admission offers through JAMB CAPS and the SAZU admissions office.

It also urged the public to report any suspicious communication, letters, or payment requests to the University’s Security Unit or the nearest law enforcement agency.

Hassan further noted that the University is working closely with security agencies to track and prosecute those behind the scam.

“For genuine admission updates, applicants are advised to visit the University’s official website: www.sazu.edu.ng,” the statement concluded.
