Nasarawa Assembly Votes Against Independent Candidacy

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA) has votes against a bill for an act to altered the provisions of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria,1999 to provide for Independent candidacy in presidential ,governorship, National, State Assemblies and local government Council elections, and for other related matters.

Out of the 66 bills ,there was an accelerated acceptance by voting in favor of 65 bills and voting against one bill, which is for independent candidacy.

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly also voted in favour of local government, legislature and judicial autonomy among other bills.

Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House announced this during the Presentation of the Transmission of Constitution ( Fifth Alteration) Bills, 2022.

According to him, out of the 66 bills sent to the House by the National Assembly for Alteration, we have voted in favour of 65 bills and voted against one bill.
