The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), Southwest Zone, has announced plans to establish a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Conversion Centre at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
The project, hailed as a milestone in student empowerment and technical innovation, was confirmed in a statement by the Zonal Coordinator, Comr. Obasanya Monday Johnson.
Powered by the Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Student Affairs, Hon. Kevin Solomon Olaolu, the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
NAPS said the centre would create opportunities for skill acquisition, green energy transition, and economic sustainability for students in Ondo State and across Nigeria.
The association commended Rufus Giwa Polytechnic’s management for supporting the initiative, describing the school as a hub for academic and technological advancement.
Students’ Union Government (SUG) President, Comr. Shane Thompson, was also praised for his grassroots leadership in ensuring the project’s success.
Obasanya stressed that the initiative is part of NAPS’ agenda to ensure polytechnic students graduate with practical skills alongside their certificates.
The CNG Conversion Centre is expected to be completed and commissioned next month, serving as a model for other institutions in the Southwest and beyond.
