The election took place during the organisation’s national convention in Kaduna, following a four-day gathering of members from across the country.

Hamza takes over from Mrs. Rafiah Idowu Sanni of Oyo State, who served as the 10th national amirah for four years.

As the 11th national amirah of FOMWAN, Hamza pledged her commitment to collaborate with members nationwide, aiming to elevate the organisation to new heights. In her acceptance speech, she conveyed her determination to enhance FOMWAN’s global impact, aspiring to transform it into an exemplary organisation that positively influences lives.

Dr. Hamza will be supported in her new role by Na’ibah Zeenat Ismikhai from Edo State. Their tenure is set to last until 2027, with the next election providing an opportunity for possible re-election for an additional two years.

“We are honoured to lead this esteemed organisation at such a pivotal time,” Dr. Hamza stated. “We are committed to building upon the strong foundations established by our predecessors while working towards FOMWAN’s vision of empowering Muslim women and promoting their welfare.”
