Police authorities in Tripoli, Libya, have arrested two Nigerians over allegation bordering on involvement in a series of robberies targeting commercial outlets across the city.
The suspects, described as undocumented migrants, were taken into custody on August 25, 2025, after surveillance footage allegedly captured them robbing a store.
Migrant Rescue Watch, an organisation monitoring migrant-related developments in Libya, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Tuesday.
“Police in Tripoli arrested 2 undocumented #migrants of Nigerian nationality responsible for series of break and entries and robberies.
“The accused were targeting commercial stores with the intent of seizing cash. The case was referred to public prosecutor,” the group said.
Authorities believe the duo had been linked to multiple break-ins as part of a broader attempt to steal money from businesses in the Libyan capital.
The suspects have since been handed over to the public prosecutor for further investigation and possible prosecution.
