The incident, which occurred at 3:00 am, saw the attackers invade the residence of Anas Ahmadu, 33. They took him away with his wife and their daughter, Jidda Anas.

In the process, the gunmen shot Abdullahi Muhammad, 25, a vigilante member who attempted to resist the attack.

The police public relations officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the development in a statement, saying the divisional police officer (DPO) mobilised his personnel to the scene, restored calm and launched an investigation to track down the perpetrators.

The commissioner of police, CP Bello Shehu, visited the area with senior officers for an on-the-spot assessment and immediately deployed additional personnel and assets to secure the release of the victims and apprehend the attackers.
