Former President Olusegun Obasanjo visited the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade at his palace in the ancient Oyo Town, on Friday.

The visit was the former president’s first after the installation of Oba Owoade as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo in April, 2025.

Obasanjo was accompanied on the visit by his daughter, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, among few other eminent dignitaries on his entourage.

The visit comes at the time Oba Owoade challenged the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi on the latter’s authority to install Ibadan-born businessman, Engr Dotun Sanusi as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland, maintaining that the Ooni cannot confer a chieftaincy title with Yorubaland’s coverage.

Efforts by our correspondent to speak with the media aide of the Alaafin, Mr. Bode Durojaye on the issues discussed during the visit were unsuccessful as repeated calls to his mobile phone did not connect.
