The state, through its Ministry of Health, praised the organisation’s efforts in schools and communities.

The foundation, in partnership with Reckitt Nigeria, has been championing simple practices, such as hand washing, in schools to protect children from infectious diseases and reduce absenteeism caused by sickness across Lagos and Kwara states and the FCT.

In her address at the Dettol Hygiene Quest Stakeholders’ Meeting in Lagos, the ministry representative, Dr Yeside Shogbaminu, commended the campaign’s impact and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the initiative.

“We are looking at harmonising and collaborating with everybody so that we have a healthy outcome in Lagos State. We are happy to be part of this programme and applaud the organisers and implementation team for their dedication,” she said.

The director of programming and reporting, WBFA, Dr Osinachi Onyeoziri, noted, that the foundation, in support of its strategic partners, has been able to reach over 200 schools, with plans to cover more schools, and that the adoption of hand washing in all schools will reduce the burden of diseases.

He said: “Hygiene and sanitation are very important, as they help create a better future. We have been committed for a long time to promoting RMNCAH+N, and building a future where everyone is healthy and happy. We have been working to develop a healthy system, and we are very particular about hygiene and education.”
