The chairman of Langtang North local government council of Plateau State, Hon Pirfa Tyem, has raised fresh alarm over the alarming resurgence of fake and substandard drugs in the locality.

Tyem made the disclosure while speaking shortly after being formally decorated as the Battalion Grand Patron of the Boys Brigade of Nigeria.

The investiture ceremony was held at the Church of Christ in Nations RCC Headquarters Kuffen in Langtang North local government council of Plateau State at the weekend.
Tyem also noted that he was a victim of a fake drug, adding that the council’s supervisory councillor for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene informed him that they have confiscated a cache of counterfeit medicines in the area.

“A few months ago, I was sick, and all the drugs administered to me did not work because they were fake. I am lucky that the fake drugs I took did not affect any of my vital organs,” he said.

The chairman further stressed, “My administration is doing everything possible to revamp the health sector in the area”, stressing that anyone found selling counterfeit drugs would be dealt with.
