Catholic Archbishop of Kaduna, Most Rev Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, has urged Christians to embrace humility, describing it as the true path to wisdom, authentic living, and salvation.

In a homily he delivered yesterday at St. Joseph Catholic Cathedral, Kaduna, Ndagoso stressed that every human being is limited regardless of status or possessions, and by acknowledging such limitations, one can live honestly with God and others.

“To be humble is to live as you are and as God sees you. Humility means being real, authentic, and truthful about yourself. It is the constant awareness that we are limited and need the grace of God”.
Ndagoso explained that humility is not weakness but strength, as it allows a person to accept faults, embrace sincerity, and make space for God’s grace.

“When we empty our hearts of pride and accept our weaknesses, we create room for God’s grace to dwell, and then we become strong”.

He cautioned against hypocrisy and the tendency to watch others only to find faults, urging Christians instead to support one another, especially the weak and vulnerable, in the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood.

He added that the call to humility extends to families and communities, where parents, leaders and individuals are expected to bring out the best in others rather than pull them down.

“Whatever we do should be for the good of our brothers and sisters and for the interest of humanity. We must always seek to lift people up, not destroy them”.

The Archbishop reiterated that humility remains the foundation for living realistically within one’s limits, building stronger relationships, and attaining eternal salvation.
