At the ceremony held at the Bagaja Renewables Power Plant in Kafin Hausa, Governor Namadi said the project was in line with his administration’s policy to promote the use of environmentally-friendly energy.
He said the solar mini-grid, which is the first of its kind in the state, would enhance the social and economic development of the beneficiary communities and Jigawa in general.

Namadi noted that the project was executed in collaboration with KEDCO and Future Energies Africa and aims to ensure sustainable improvement in power supply in the state.

“The Kafin Hausa Mini-Grid is a 500 kWp solar-hybrid power plant equipped with a 3.5 km 33 kV distribution line, step-up and step-down transformers, and other supporting infrastructure,” he said.

“However, we have several of such mini-grid power projects planned to be rolled out in Hadejia, Gumel, Kazaure, Ringim, Dutse, and other strategic locations. This includes the setting up of 100 MW under a public-private partnership.

“This is part of the fulfillment of KEDCO’s obligations under our signed Memorandum of Understanding, which was established when the Jigawa State government agreed to invest in KEDCO, the power distribution company serving our state. I truly believe today’s event is yet another milestone in our efforts to improve the socioeconomic wellbeing of our citizens,” Namadi stated.
