The Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja has explained the rationale behind his inability to attend the University of Ibadan.

Speaking when the principal officers of the university paid him a courtesy at his Ibadan residence, the monarch explained that he was unable to attend the university because he wanted to study technology when he sought admission for higher education.

The former governor of Oyo State maintained that he did not have the privilege of attending the university because the Faculty of Technology had not been established in 1966 when he sought admission for higher education.

The delegation was led by the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Kayode Adebowale.

Addressing the gathering, Ladoja noted that despite the proliferation of universities in the country, the university had maintained its position as the best in the country.

He added that the institution remains the pride of the academia and the people of Ibadan in particular.

Ladoja also enjoined the institution to harness the strength of other research institutes in the ancient city.

He said that this would help to facilitate the fulfilment of its mandate and for the betterment of the people of the ancient city.

Prof Adebowale reiterated that the university owes its existence to the generosity of the Ibadan people, which depicts the hospitality for which Ibadan is well known.

He assured that the University would continue to partner with the people of the ancient city in all areas of human endeavours.
