Buni Approves Construction Of Roads, Drainages in 5 LGAs

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has approved the construction of new township roads and drainages in Tarmuwa, Bursari, Machina, Nangere, and Yusufari local government areas, as part of his administration’s drive to expand rural infrastructure and enhance community development.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Jajere,  disclosed this while leading an inspection team to to assess ongoing township road projects in Jakusko, Karasuwa, and Fika local government areas, respectively.

He said that, the first phase of the additional township roads initiative, 22 kilometers of roads and 44 kilometers of drainages are being constructed across 11 local government headquarters.

He disclosed that, each council is benefitting two kilometers of asphalt roads with corresponding four kilometers of drainage systems.

Hon Jajere commended the quality and pace of work in Fika, Damagum, Jakusko, and Karasuwa, while charging contractors handling projects in Gulani and Yunusari to strictly adhere to contractual specifications.

He also commended Buni for prioritizing rural infrastructure, describing the investments as a strategic step toward bridging developmental gaps, improving transportation, mitigating flooding, and enhancing governance at the grassroots.

He said that, the ministry’s monitoring framework ensures all projects meet set standards, timelines, and budgetary provisions.

 

According to him, “ I want to inform you that, this inspection underscores the importance the Buni administration attaches to grassroots development.”

 

He added that, “With this numerous road, housing, and public facility projects ongoing across the state, the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs will continue to play a pivotal role in supervising interventions that directly impact the welfare of citizens,” Jajere.

 

The commissioner assured the ministry’s commitment to strengthening oversight and stakeholder engagement to guarantee timely and successful project delivery in line with Yobe’s development blueprint.

 

LEADERSHIP Friday gathered that, the inspection team also visited Nguru to monitor the remodeling of the Government Lodge, as well as ongoing work at the Jajere modern motor park and an integrated shopping complex designed to boost commerce in the area.
