Herdsmen Kill 6 Farmers In Benue

Armed men believed to be herdsmen on Thursday evening killed six farmers who were returning from their farms in Turan community, Diiv, Yaav ward of Kwande local government area of Benue State.

A community leader, Hon. Lawrence Akerigba, told our correspondent yesterday that herders also killed another farmer who was working on his farm on Wednesday.

He said, “The herders have now devised different ways of killing people, they are no longer using guns, what they are doing now is ambushing farmers and butchering people with sharp objects like knifes and machetes.

“Yesterday evening they came in large numbers and split themselves into different directions targeting farmers who were returning from their farms.

Nobody was aware what was happening till a woman who escaped with her daughter whose ear was cut off narrated what happened.

Police spokesperson, Udene Eden, said she was yet to get the report.
