Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the development and transformation of the lives of people at the grassroots.
Usman, who received members of the Ward Development Project Committee led by its chairman, Muhammed Falalu Bako, in Minna yesterday, expressed satisfaction with the work carried out by the committee.
He said the Ward Development Project was a strategic initiative of the administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago aimed at delivering sustainable development across the 274 wards in the 25 local government areas of the state.
He stated that the project represented a direct response to the yearnings and aspirations of the people and demonstrated government’s determination to entrench inclusiveness in governance.
While commending the committee for the diligence and transparency displayed in the discharge of its responsibility, the SSG assured that the government would provide the necessary support to ensure the timely and effective implementation of identified projects.
He urged the committee to sustain its engagement with communities for accountability and ownership of the projects.
Chairman of the committee, Muhammed Falalu Bako, presented progress reports on the proposed projects across the 274 wards, covering areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, water, empowerment initiatives and other relevant sectors.
LEADERSHIP Weekend gathered the government has begun the release of N3 million to each of the 274 wards every month to execute projects that were initiated by the communities.
