Akume Donates Lab, Institutes Scholarship In Alma Mater

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, has handed over a renovated ICT laboratory to his alma mater, LGEA Primary School Wannune.

Akume who made the donation in the school located in Wanune, Tarka local government area of Benue State, also announced a scholarship scheme for pupils in the school and encouraged the youths to take advantage of the Federal Polytechnic in Wanune which now runs

A statement by his special adviser on media and publicity, Yomi Odunuga, said, “Today is a very great and fulfilling day to me as it sparks off some beautiful and well cherished memories of my life. My journey to stardom began here some many decades ago. The renovation of the entire school structures and fully equipped ICT laboratory is part of my little contributions for the growth of my alma mater, and education in the state generally.”

“I want to admonish you to continue to support my principal, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He has initiated life-changing initiatives that he alone has the drive and capacity to implement for the betterment of all citizens.

“As some of you are aware, the Makurdi-Katsina Ala Road reconstruction, Badagary-Sokoto Highway, Makurdi-Otukpo-9th Mile Road, Lagos-Calabar Super Highway and Enugu-Onitsha Express Way among other road infrastructures are currently ongoing with more to kick start soon to enhance economic growth across the country.”

Receiving the school structures, Tara LG Education Secretary, Aondoakaa Kwaghbo applauded Sen. Akume for giving back to his alma mater, a gesture he described as rare, noting that education remained the bedrock of meaningful development to thrive in all societies, adding that the ICT lab would go a long way to enhance the pupils’ level of computer literacy.
