Adamawa State House of Assembly Speaker Bathiya Wesley has donated N5 million to the victims of the recent flood disaster in some parts of the state.

The flood, caused by a collapsed bridge, submerged the affected communities and caused extensive damage to residential houses and farmlands.

Wesley empathised with the victims during visits to communities in Mombol, Luga, Garari, Dakza, and Zedinyi and urged them to regard the incident as an act of God.

He said the cash donation would be distributed according to the extent of damage to each house as immediate relief before others come from government agencies and non-governmental organisations.

The speaker assured the communities that he would work with the state government, relevant agencies and individuals to mobilise further support and ensure a coordinated recovery effort for all the victims.

The communities lauded the speaker for always identifying with them and called on other politicians in Hong to emulate Wesley.

Meanwhile, the state government has approved the immediate reconstruction of the bridge that collapsed on the Pella-Maiha Bridge along the Tasha Tidin-Dzhedinyi Axis.
