The Kaduna State Police Command has insisted on the personal appearance of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai and six other senior members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) before the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to answer its summon.
Spokesperson of the Command, Mansir Hassan told LEADERSHIP on Tuesday that police were still waiting for El-Rufai and other invited persons and not through representatives.
Our Correspondent recalls that the Police Command had summoned El-Rufai and the ADC members to answer questions over alleged criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous hurt.
El-Rufai and other invited persons however, failed to honour the police invitation in person, but sent lawyers along other ADC officials.
Reacting to this, the Command said, “Former Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai and others did not come but they sent their lawyers and party chairman as their representatives. We told their lawyers and their party chairman that all the people invited, including the former governor are to appear in person and not through representatives.”
Hassan pledged to disclose police’s next line of action, stressing “but for now, we are waiting for them to honour their earlier invitation.”
