The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi has dismissed reports suggesting that the party was facing internal legal battles, insisting that the party was unaware of any case filed against it.

Abdullahi stated this on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’.

He stressed that now that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognised former Senate President David Mark as the chairman of the party, there is no faction in the ADC.

“Is there another faction of the party? When you say what happens to ADC, then I can answer you. But when you say what happens to the David Mark-led ADC and I answer you, it simply means that I am inadvertently admitting that there is another ADC or another leadership,” Abdullahi responded to anchor, Seun Okinbaloye.

Okinbaloye however countered that some members of the party, including Dumebi Kachikwu and Hon. Leke Adejide, has gone to court challenging Mark’s leadership, insisting that he did not emerge through the right process.

Abdullahi, however, rejected the claim, maintaining that no such case exists. “We are not aware that anybody is in court against ADC. At this moment, we are not aware”.

He further argued that most of the claims of legal action against the party have been nothing more than empty threats.

“You see, what we have found is that people hold press conferences and make claims, threats, but in the end, because they know the hollowness of their standing, they know they cannot follow it through,” he added.

Reaffirming the legitimacy of the new leadership, Abdullahi said the ADC has merely concluded an administrative transition.

“As far as we are aware, the ADC is not facing any legal case. What we have is the completion of the administrative process of changing the leadership of the ADC from where we are coming from to where we want to be.

“So there is no question as to whether there is any other leadership of the African Democratic Congress,” Abdullahi insisted.
