A youth leader, Mr. Emmanuel Obasi Okike, has commended the member representing Ohaozara Onicha and Ivo federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Nkemkanma Kama for ending the water scarcity in the constituency.
Okike said the solar-powered boreholes sunk by the National Assembly member had helped the rural women and children have unfettered access to potable and constant water supply across the nooks and crannies of their communities.
Mr. Okike who hails from Uburu in Ohaozara local government area made the disclosure when he arrived Abakaliki the state capital from his 670-kilometre trek from Ilorin, Kwara State to Abakaliki, in appreciation of the lawmaker’s laudable achievements.
He said that the lawmaker has renovated schools, sunk solar-powered boreholes, organised free holiday lessons for students, and constructed roads, bridges, and other amenities across the constituency, saying that his achievements motivated him to embark on the trek.
Okike began the journey on August 25, and he said the constituency has never been so good.
“We have never had it this good, and in just two years no one’s record can match what Hon. Kama has achieved,” Okike said.
He explained that after deep reflection, he resolved to celebrate the lawmaker “uncommonly” by embarking on the long trek, which he described as “a turbulent but fulfilling journey.”
He said that insecurity forced him to divert his route from the Ekiti/Okene axis, passing instead through Bida, Minna, Suleja, Zuba, Lokoja, before finally reaching Abakaliki.
“Many people called me along the way to give up, but I refused because I am a man of my word. I believe that lack of confidence is the only barrier to success, and I was determined to complete this journey,” he said.
Receiving Mr. Okike in Abakaliki, Hon Kama said that he will continue to provide social amenities that have a direct positive effect on the lives of the people, adding that the boreholes have reduced the burden faced by rural dwellers in accessing good and clean water.
Hon Kama, represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Mr. David Ogbonna, assured that the lawmaker would not relent in delivering quality representation to the people and thanked Mr. Okike for the appreciation.
