Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has posited that mobilising Fulani to embrace cattle ranching for improved livestock production will end the persistent clashes between famers and herders in the country.

He said the measure would also help check other security challenges.

The governor stated this when he received representatives of different Fulani groups under the auspices of Madako Foundation for Conflict Resolution and Empowerment on a courtesy visit to the Government House.

Bago asserted that ranching is the best and most improved platform for livestock production and urged the Fulani to embrace it. He said it would also generate more income for them through the value-chain production.

He described the Fulani as hardworking people and acknowledged the state government’s efforts in identifying those engaging in nefarious activities.

The governor cautioned those invading farms to stop the act.

Bago, who encouraged his guests to ensure the enrolment of their children in schools, applauded the efforts of the CEO of Madako Foundation for her initiative of creating avenues for Fulani children to be in school and charged on their educated kinsmen to come to Niger State to improve nomadic education.

In his remarks, Dr. Abubakar Umar Girei, who represented the Lamido of Adamawa, commended the governor for his love and support for the Fulani, noting that Bago has carried them along in the scheme of things.

He also appreciated the governor’s support of the Madako Foundation to improve the lives of Fulani in the state.

He said the whole Fulani race is proud to associate with the governor and is ready to key into his progressive ideas.
