The minister of works, Engr David Umahi, has revealed that he has a healing balm in seeing good infrastructure, saying that when he is sick but sees good infrastructure, he would get well even without visiting the hospital.

He stated this yesterday in Makurdi, Benue State, when he visited the state to inspect some ongoing projects being undertaken by the governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia.

The minister’s remark was contained in a statement by the chief press secretary (CPS) to the governor, Tersoo Kula.

Umahi said, “I have been here several times, especially when I was deputy governor. I am here today as Minister of Works. I am very shocked with the development that has taken place here in the past two years. Even my aides, those who have been with me since when I was deputy governor, when we got here, they were asking me, sir, is this the same Benue State we have been to?

“Each of the roads I supervised today, once we get to the site, I’d ask whether it’s ours from the federal Ministry of Works. So, the quality is overwhelming. I told him (the governor) that he is lucky to have good contractors who are determined to do a good job. The directors and engineers are great minds. I commend the governor for the wonderful job he is doing for the state.

“The number of roads he is building, the Cancer Centre at the teaching hospital, and so many other infrastructure. If I am feeling sick and I see good infrastructure, I will get well. I love development so much and I am very excited about what Governor Alia is doing.

“Everything must not be politicised. We must put politics aside and talk about the future of this country. I will go back and tell Mr President what I have seen in Benue State.

“I can feel it here. Benue people love Mr President, and they also love what the Governor is doing.

“Let it be known that it is all about the people and all about God. When you have a heart to develop a place, it means you have taken God first. Governor Alia has taken God first and he is making us proud.”
