Delta Police Rescue ‘Hypnotised’ Woman Abducted From Niger

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have rescued a young woman abducted in Niger state and held captive in Delta.

The victim, identified as Rebecca Mathew was among scores of other girls who were reportedly abducted from northern part of Nigeria and kept in a house at Oza Nogogo community in Ika South local government area of Delta State.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the suspect, 30-year-old Bila Halili, from Kosso community in Sokoto State was arrested by a team of officers led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Agbor Division, CSP Obekpa Michael during an operation at his residence in Oza Nogogo.

Edafe disclosed that during preliminary investigation, the operatives observed that the victim appeared to have been hypnotised.

She, however, recounted that the suspect lured her from her family home, destroyed her mobile telephone SIM card to prevent contact before taking her away.

“Further investigation led the operatives to the victim’s mother, Esther Moses of Bodinga community in Niger state, who confirmed that her daughter had been missing since September 2, 2025, and that a complaint had already been lodged with the Niger State Police Command,” Edafe said.
