Jonathan Holds Democracy Dialogue In Ghana

The Goodluck Jonathan Foundation has scheduled this year’s annual Democracy Dialogue in Accra, Ghana, with a theme “Why Democracies Die”.

The founder of the Foundation and former president of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has arrived in Ghana on Monday ahead of the annual event tagged #GEJDemocracyDialogue.

Taking to his verified social media accounts on Monday night, former President Jonathan disclosed that the event is jointly hosted by his Foundation in collaboration with the Government of Ghana, adding that the event ‘will provide participants an opportunity to reflect on the progress, challenges, and prospects of decades of democratic governance’ in West Africa sub-region.

Jonathan wrote: “This year’s dialogue, themed ‘Why Democracies Die’, is hosted by the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation in collaboration with the Government of Ghana. It will provide participants an opportunity to reflect on the progress, challenges, and prospects of decades of democratic governance in our sub-region.

“I am hopeful that the deliberations and outcomes from this event will contribute meaningfully to deepening democracy in our region, and translate into greater peace, security, and good governance.”
