Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court in Lagos has remanded two suspected drug traffickers, Muazee Ogunbiyi and Shola Adegoke, in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Services for allegedly dealing in 17.9 kilogrammes of cocaine.
Justice Kakaki ordered Ogunbiyi and Adegoke to be kept behind bars after granting an ex parte motion filed and argued by one of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) lawyers, Abu Ibrahim, a Commander of Narcotics.
Ibrahim had told the judge that the suspects were apprehended on September 3, 2025, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) following the discovery of the illicit drug concealed within textile materials.
In addition to the remand order, the judge also authorised the interim forfeiture of two vehicles: a black Range Rover with the registration number RBC 459 EJ, from which 9.60 kilograms of cannabis sativa was recovered, and a black Toyota Venza with the registration number FST 771 JQ, in which one of the suspects was found.
In the ex parte motion, the lawyer urged the court to extend the detention of Muazee Ademola Ogunbiyi and Shola Adegoke, who were taken into custody on September 3, 2025, for investigation by the NDLEA.
He claimed that they were implicated in the seizure of 17.90 kilograms of cocaine at the Skyway Handling Company (SAHCO) Export Shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, on August 26, 2025.
He also asked the court for an order extending the two suspects’ detention for thirty (30) days to conduct a detailed investigation into the case.
The application was supported by a nine-paragraph affidavit, deposed to by Okonkwo Anthony, a litigation officer attached to the Directorate of Prosecution and Legal Services of the NDLEA.
After considering the application, Justice Kakaki held that it had merit and granted the requests, remanding the two suspects for 14 days.
