An Abia State monarch, Eze Onyebuchi John Ibeziem, has criticised moves to negotiate with bandits in some parts of the country and expressed worry over the approach.
The traditional ruler of Amuzukwu Ibeku Kingdom, Abia State stated this in his palace at a traditional festival, likening the approach to „romancing with an avowed enemy.“
“Insecurity has since become one of the worst enemies of the country and it must be treated accordingly by the security agencies for the peace, security and development of the country.
“The agencies are trained for this and should be supported and provided with all they require to prosecute the campaign without minding who will be affected,“ he said.
The monarch, who commanded the agencies for their successes in the campaign, solicited the prayers and support of every citizen for them.
He also lauded the developmental strides of the governor, Alex Otti, expressing delight that the state had never had it so good since 1999.
Similarly, the state commissioner for transport, Chimezie Ukegbu, who is from the kingdom, described the festival as very successful and wished the people well.
He underlined the need for people to form cooperative societies and engage in agriculture to influence various government interventions in these areas.
