PTML Customs Urges Importers, Agents On Compliance In Cargo Declarations

The Customs Area Controller of Port and Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) Command, Comptroller Joe Anani, on Friday, called on importers, clearing agents, and other stakeholders to embrace full compliance in their cargo declarations, stressing that transparency and adherence to regulations are key to smooth port operations.

Addressing the stakeholders at the PTML Command, Apapa, Lagos, Anani said, it is the only way of facilitating smooth and faster clearance of goods and guarantee true trade facilitation.

According to him, his office as CAC shall be open for engagements, saying. he will innovate with integrity, serve with excellence, and grow together.

“As I step into this role, I see exciting opportunities ahead. Our world is changing faster than ever, with new technologies, evolving markets, and shifting expectations. But what hasn’t changed, and what never will, is our commitment to you.

“The CGC holds stakeholders engagement very dearly and we at this command follow in that direction. I am aware of your good records of compliance which is trailed by great testimonies, let’s keep it growing. I’m here to listen, to collaborate, and to ensure that every decision we make puts you at the center of success and productivity.

“Let me promise you that my office as CAC shall be open to engagements.

Anani commended them for embracing the Unified Customs Management System, popularly known as B’ Odogwu, saying their support and great sacrifices built the foundation of everything the Service has achieved so far with B’ Odogwu.

The CAC said: “It is an absolute honour to stand before you today as the newly appointed Area Controller for PTML Command. This task for me is both a privilege and a challenge that must be accomplished.

“I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the incredible impact that strong stakeholder relationships can have on driving innovation and growth, especially for an innovation like the Unified Customs Management System, popularly called B’Odogwu. I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for the support you gave to this initiative and the great sacrifices you all made in our journey from its inception to its stage of stability.

“You are the heartbeat of customs modernisation, your trust, your feedback, and your unwavering support have built the foundation of everything we’ve achieved so far with B’Odogwu.”

The stakeholders, comprising of the members of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), the National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents (NCMDLCA), among others took turns to commend Comptroller Anani and his management team for convening a maiden stakeholders’ meeting less than a week after his assumption of office.
