There have been some pockets of violence in the state including the attack on the governorship candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Bernard Odoh, destruction of campaign billboards and posters of some  candidates of political parties and their parties.

Nkwegu, in an interaction with newsmen in Abakaliki, urged his supporters not to be involved in any kind of violence on his behalf.

He said he doesn’t want violence to be recorded for him throughout his life and after his life

He opined that he was contesting the governorship to solve the problems of the state and not to add to them and called for peaceful general elections.

“My understanding of leadership is to come and solve problems. Anybody that says we don’t have challenges in Ebonyi State is economical with the truth.

“There is poverty in the land and Even Bureau of Statistics in their data said that the poverty rate in Ebonyi is about 70 percent.

“Unemployment rate in the state is also very high, a lot of people are jobless in the state.

“We also have challenges in Agriculture. Ebonyi is blessed with many mineral deposits but they have not been harnessed. So, there is a need to harness them.”
