The operatives, in a series of well-coordinated operations carried out between September 3 and 19, 2025, successfully apprehended members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate responsible for multiple violent crimes within the FCT and its environs.

The suspects arrested at Kagini, FCT, and Madalla, Niger State, include: Ibrahim Shaibu a.k.a. Baba Godes (M), 28 years, from Zaria, Kaduna State; Yusuf Salihu (M), 40 years, from Kagini, FCT; Awulu Nuhu a.k.a. Zabi (M), 25 years, from Keita LGA, Katsina State; and Usman Yerima a.k.a. FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the operation led to the recovery of two English pistols, 49 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, one gray Toyota Corolla car (2012 model), 10 android phones suspected to have been stolen from victims.

SP Adeh further said during interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in several violent crimes, including the armed robbery of Umar Y. Gowa at Hillside Estate, Dawaki, and the attack on Volcano Peak Court Hotel, Gwarinpa, where guests were robbed and Bashir Dauda, popularly known as DJ Bash, was fatally shot.

The police further noted that, “investigations further revealed that the syndicate had been terrorizing residents of Gwarinpa and Dawaki, where they carried out violent attacks on unsuspecting members of the public. This was corroborated by CCTV footage that captured one of their attacks on an innocent resident, further exposing the gang’s ruthless modus operandi.

“The suspects also provided useful information on other gang members currently at large. Efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing members of the syndicate.”

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, FCT Command, CP Ajao Adewale, has commended the Scorpion Squad and other operatives for their professionalism, courage, and resilience in dismantling the deadly network.

He reassured FCT residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and urged the public to remain vigilant and continue to support the police with credible information.
