The Women’s Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN), Bauchi State chapter, has been urged to remain pillars in their families and build their homes in line with Christian values.

This call was made by the state chairman of CAN, Reverend Abraham Damina Dumues, during a one-day Annual Women CAN Congress held at Bishara Baptist Church, Yandoka Road, Bauchi yesterday.

Represented by the secretary, Reverend Matthew Wakili Laslimbo, Dumues emphasised the need for women to unite as one body in Christ Jesus to effectively propagate the gospel and advance the kingdom of God.

For her part, the WOWICAN leader in Bauchi, Pastor Mrs Gladis Mbami, expressed gratitude to the CAN leadership and women leaders across local government areas for their support in moving the association forward.

She called on Christian women across denominations to unite in fellowship, attend programmes at all levels, and work collectively for the progress of WOWICAN.

Delivering the keynote message on “The Role of a Christian Woman in a Time Like This,” Reverend Damaris Emmanuel Balere urged women to remain steadfast despite domestic, economic, and external challenges, including insecurity from herdsmen and banditry.

She advised women to join hands with their husbands in meeting family needs, raising children in godliness, and engaging in income-generating activities, no matter how small.

She cautioned women against farming alone, urging them to move in groups for safety and avoid staying late in the fields.

Goodwill messages were delivered by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Baba Tanko, represented by Mrs Monica Friday, and the wife of the Bogoro local government chairman, Mrs Apia Yakubu Lawi Sumi, represented by Mrs Tabitha Gashon.

Highlights of the congress included a health talk, counselling on girl-child protection, prayers for leaders at all levels, peace in Nigeria and the world, and song ministrations.
