Vice Chancellor of Taraba State University (TSU), Jalingo, Sunday Paul Bako, has received a global award from the University of Technology, Malaysia (UTM) for his outstanding contributions to academic excellence, innovation and international collaboration.
A senior lecturer in UTM’s Faculty of Educational Science and Technology and a member of the university’s Internationalisation Committee, Abdulmimi Inda, presented the award during a visit to the VC in Jalingo, the state capital.
Inda commended Bako’s leadership drive in TSU, academic growth and strengthening international partnerships.
He extended a formal invitation to the vice chancellor to participate in a global university forum in Malaysia on October 7–8, 2025.
The TSU’s director of Quality Assurance, Mustapha Baba Ibi, said a professor from UTM has agreed to serve as a visiting lecturer to TSU.
He said TSU will host a webinar and colloquium on September 29, coordinated by Zaidatun bnt Tasir of UTM, targeted at staff and postgraduate students.
The programme, which is free to TSU, will focus on research writing, capacity building, global rankings, and advancing research excellence.
In his remarks, Bako expressed gratitude to UTM for the recognition, describing it as an honour to the university and a call for higher service.
He reaffirmed TSU’s commitment to strengthening academic partnerships across Asia, Africa, and Europe, emphasising that such collaborations will boost the university’s global visibility.
“This award is a testimony that Taraba State University is rising to the global stage. We will continue to build partnerships, grow stronger, and expand opportunities for our staff and students,” Bako stated.
