As part of its commitment to curtailing mother-to-child malaria infections, the Ogun 1 Command Chapter of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA) has donated Insecticide-Treated Mosquito Nets to pregnant women at two prominent hospitals in the Idiroko Border town.

Led by the COWA Chairperson in the Command, Mrs Fausat Otunla, COWA donated to pregnant women at the antenatal section of the Ogun State General Hospital and the Customs Medical Centre, both in Idiroko Border town.

During the donation to the Ogun State General Hospital, COWA Chairperson, Otunla, said the initiative was part of her association’s commitment to community development and the well-being of families within and around Customs’ host communities in Idiroko.

Disclosing that the donation was part of her association’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Otunla reiterated the association’s resolve to continually support health institutions and enhance the people’s living conditions.

“This CSR activity once again underscores the compassionate vision of COWA and its contribution to the health and welfare of communities”.

Otunla also assured the association of the hospital’s readiness to extend medical outreach to COWA members and their spouses.

Speaking on behalf of the hospital managements of the two healthcare facilities, the Chief Medical Director at the General Hospital, Dr. Kilanko Margaret, and the head of the medical teal at the Customs’ Medical facility, Superintendent of Customs (SC) Dr. Abdulmalik Zakariyyah, both expressed gratitude for the COWA’s benevolence, noting that the donations would go a long way in improving patient welfare.

In a show of appreciation, a representative of the pregnant women, Mrs Sodiq Ola, who spoke at the General Hospital where patients and pregnant women were attending antenatal clinics, also expressed appreciation to COWA for the gifts and prayed for the continued success and well-being of the association.
