Following warning by the United States (US) and the United Kingdom (UK) of likely terrorists’ attacks, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has alerted residents to be vigilant.
Speaking in an interview yesterday in Uyo, the state capital, the police public relations officer, Odiko Macdon, charged the residents to be mindful of visitors and other suspicious characters around their neighbourhoods and promptly report such emergencies to security agencies for quick action.
He explained that “matters of securing lives and properties of the citizenry requires a holistic action involving the citizens, government, security agencies and other stakeholder” and, therefore, urged all hands to be on the deck to nib such security infractions in the bud anywhere in the state.
While underscoring the importance of collaboration in the fight to contain security breaches, Macdon said the police command would seek synergy with other sister paramilitary agencies to ensure no stone was left unturned in making the state safe for residents, visitors including tourists and investors.
