Yobe State governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni, has inspected the Damaturu Flyover and underpass, and the Damaturu-Gambir Road projects under construction.
At the flyover and underpass project site, Buni expressed satisfaction with the quality and space of work on the project.
“I am happy with the quality and speed of work on the project. The contractors have so far lived up to expectations, strictly adhering to the contractual agreements.”
According to him, “When completed, this would greatly reduce the problem of congestion here in the city centre as well as the menace of floods entering houses along Gashua Road.”
The commissioner for Works, Engr. Umar Wakil Dudaye, who conducted the governor’s tour of the project, said site engineers from the ministry have been on every stage of development to ensure compliance and for the government to get value for its money.
The contractors further assured the governor that the project would be completed within the stipulated time frame.
Similarly, Governor Buni visited the Damaturu -Gambir road project to personally assess its quality and speed.
The governor said the road has great economic value as it would ease the transportation of agricultural products from the benefiting communities to Damaturu, the state capital.
He said that many agricultural communities are always challenged by the difficulty of moving their farm produce to Damaturu, where there is a huge market.
“This road would provide a solution to the age-long difficulty faced by the communities.”
He added, “I am glad the contractor has completed the earthwork and commenced the overlay,” Buni noted.
Engr. Modu Bukar, of Elegance Construction, contractors handling the project, assured the governor that the project would be completed in the next nine weeks.
