A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Otunba Kayode Awe, has expressed optimism that Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election in 2026 will be seamless. He said there is no visible opposition to the governor’s second term ambition.

At a stakeholders’ meeting in Ado-Ekiti at the weekend, Awe said the two main opposition parties in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), were already working, directly or indirectly, to actualise Oyebanji’s return.

He maintained that the APC remained the state’s only strong and cohesive political platform, while the other parties had become “appendages” of the ruling party.

“It is common knowledge that former Governor Kayode Fayemi, who is allegedly associated with the ADC, has openly endorsed Governor Oyebanji,” Awe said.

The APC stalwart added that Fayemi and Oyebanji’s relationship remained cordial, describing the governor as Fayemi’s protégé who had continued to enjoy his political support.

Awe further claimed that former Governor Ayodele Fayose was equally backing Oyebanji, noting that the PDP leader had endorsed him and mobilised his loyalists to work for his re-election. With Fayemi and Fayose rallying behind him, there is really no opposition to Governor Oyebanji in Ekiti State,” he added.
