The Yobe State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Yerima Lawan Mahmud as commissioner for the Ministry of Livestock Development.
The confirmation was carried out in line with Section 192 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
Leading the debate on the motion, the majority leader of the House, Hon. Nasiru Hassan Yusuf, disclosed that, since the nominee is a former member of the Assembly, he enjoys “floor privilege” under the standing rules of the House.
According to him, This privilege, allows him to take his oath and exit without being subjected to screening questions.”
Hassan Yusuf further described Yerima Lawan as a man of integrity who has served the state meritoriously in various capacities.
LEADERSHIP reports that, Governor Mai Mala, on Sunday approved the appointment of Yerima Lawan Mahmud as the new Commissioner for the new Ministry of Livestock Development.
