2 Adamawa Communities Sign Peace Pact

Bachama and Chobo warring communities have signed a peace pact to end disputes in Adamawa State.
The state police command informs members of the public that a historic peace accord has been voluntarily signed between the two communities at the state police headquarters in Yola.

The two community representatives reaffirmed their commitment to dialogue, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence, acknowledging that collective efforts can only achieve lasting peace and mutual prosperity.
The peace accord contains six articles, declares a comprehensive ceasefire, provides visibility policing, establishes joint peace monitoring committees, dismantles illegal roadblocks, and allows free access to farmlands, markets, and routes.

Other terms include resolving past grievances, using lawful dialogue and reconciliation, committing to dialogue, and holding regular meetings to prevent conflict escalation.

The Commissioner of Police acts as a guarantor and chief arbiter, allowing the Police to investigate violations impartially, prosecute offenders, and provide security briefings.

The Command commends both communities for their voluntary commitments and sacrifices to peace. It assures that it will continue to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure the full implementation of the Accord.

The Command further encouraged public members to support this peace initiative and report to the police or appropriate authorities any act that jeopardises security efforts.

The accord presided over by the Commissioner of Police, .Dankombo Morris has in attendance other Service Commanders, including Lt Col. Eleje Abubakar, Garrison Commander 23 Armoured Brigade Yola, represented the Brigade Commander, Mr Bartholomew Omoaka, State Director DSS; and Commandant Idris Dahiru Bande, State Commandant NSCDC.

It would be recalled that four people were killed. Several properties were destroyed due to the crisis in Adamawa State.
