She said, “The leather Industry has a robust value chain affecting numerous lives and communities, enhancing it would lead to more jobs, improved livelihoods, and contribution to Nigeria’s economic growth and GDP. Bringing attention to this value chain will ignite the government’s participation in enabling processes, enhancing infrastructure, and can also assist various stakeholders for the overall good.

“It gives an opportunity for economic growth. After oil Leather is the next export generating commodity and if you follow what is going on especially in the Nigerian export promotion council, you will see that the drive for non oil export is really pleasant. Enhancing the value chain of leather and array products is a very strong potential grower of the Nigerian economy. If we can deploy and if we can harness every aspect of that value chain it will make a significant impact to our GDP and the economic status of this country.

“There are a lot of youths who are untrained and creative and if we are able to train them even to give them access to the market because there is a growing attention to leather brands in Nigeria and once we do our quota it will establish every aspect of the value chain and enhance the economic growth of Nigeria. If we are focused and put our minds to this it will be a source of revenue and economic development.”
