The House of Representatives has sworn in three new members, who were elected at the August by-election.

They are Omosede Igbinedion (Edo), Felix Bagudu (Kaduna State) and Murktar Rabiu (Jigawa).

The speaker, Abbas Tajudeen, announced the new members’ presence in the  hallowed chambers at the resumed plenary yesterday while the clerk administered the necessary oaths.

LEADERSHIP reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Igbinedion of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the by-election in Ovia Federal Constituency of Edo.

The seat in the National Assembly became vacant in September 2024, after Dennis Idahosa,  representing Ovia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, emerged as deputy governor.

Also, Bagudu of the APC was declared the winner of the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Kaduna state by-election to replace the late Labour Party’s Ekene Adams.
