The Kano State Police Command has rescued three kidnap victims and recovered a motorcycle and other exhibits in two separate operations carried out in Kano and neighbouring Kaduna State.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.
According to the statement, “on 7th October 2025, on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad, in conjunction with the Surveillance Team attached to Divisional Police Headquarters Bebeji, conducted a sting rescue operation based on actionable intelligence about an escaped kidnap victim. The victim, Abdul Hamid Bello, a 21-year-old male, had been kidnapped and severely beaten by his abductors, but managed to escape and sought help from passersby.”
He led the police to the suspected kidnappers’ den in Saya-Saya, Ikara Local Government, Kaduna State, where another victim, Musa Idris, a 65-year-old male, was rescued. “The kidnappers fled on noticing the presence of the police team, leaving behind one motorcycle and a rope, which were recovered as exhibits. Both rescued victims have been united to their family members for medical attention,” the statement added.
In a related development, the Command said on October 9, 2025, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad secured the release of another kidnap victim, Ashiru Murtala, a 19-year-old male, who was kidnapped in Beli Village, Rogo LGA, Kano State, on October 5, 2025.
“The victim was abandoned by his abductors at a sugar cane farm in Hunkuyi, Kudan LGA, Kaduna State and was subsequently rescued by the police operatives,” Kiyawa revealed.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has directed that the rescued victims receive immediate medical attention. He also assured that the command was working towards apprehending all persons involved.
