Human rights activist, Femi Falana, has stated that the presidential pardon granted late foremost Ogoni environment right activist, Kenule Saro-Wiwa, and eight of his compatriots was in order.

LEADERSHIP recalls that President Tinubu had on Thursday granted pardon to Saro-Wiwa and his compatriots, who were hanged on November 10, 1995 following a judgement of a special military tribunal set up by the regime of late Head of State, General Sani Abacha.

Falana spoke on Friday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, while delivering a keynote address during the 30 anniversary memorial lecture of late Saro-Wiwa.

“By granting pardon to Ken Saro-Wiwa and other Ogonis, it means that the government had come to a conclusion that they committed no crime.

“Ken Saro-Wiwa and his compatriots did not commit any murder. What happened is that the Nigerian State decided that they were going to deal with MOSOP. It was the Nigerian state that killed the Ogoni 4,” Falana said.
